About the product
What is this, exactly?
A 43-page digital ebook on how to land your first job. It comes in two formats — a print-ready PDF and an editable Word document — and is designed for new graduates and the people who love them enough to gift it to them.
How long is it?
43 pages. 11 chapters plus a final note. Roughly 9,000–10,000 words of writing, plus designed pages with examples, side-by-side comparisons, scripts, and a translation table for corporate-speak.
Who is it for?
New graduates and school leavers stepping into the job market. People gifting it to a recent grad. Career switchers who want a fresh, honest take. Anyone who's been job-hunting for a while and needs a reset.
Is the advice UK-specific?
It's written with the UK in mind — CVs, graduate schemes, the UK application calendar, and how British employers actually hire. That said, the core principles (how to write a CV, prepare for interviews, network, and negotiate) work just as well wherever in the world you're job hunting.
Does it cover graduate schemes?
Yes. There's a dedicated section on UK graduate schemes — how they work, the autumn application rush, rolling deadlines, online tests, assessment centres, and how to weigh a scheme against applying directly.
Is it dated to a specific year?
No. The book is intentionally evergreen — no year references on the cover or in the example CVs. You can gift it to a 2027 graduate, a 2030 graduate, and so on.
Format and delivery
What formats do I get?
Both. A PDF (for printing or reading on any device) and a Microsoft Word DOCX (for editing). Both files come in a single download.
How do I receive the files?
The moment your payment clears, you'll see download links on the order confirmation page and receive an email with the same links. The whole thing takes about 30 seconds.
Can I print it?
Yes. The PDF prints cleanly on standard A4 paper. Any home printer can handle it, or any print shop will charge a few pounds to print and bind it.
Can I edit the Word version?
Yes. Open it in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or Apple Pages. You can personalise it (add an inscription on the cover, write in a recipient's name) before printing.
What if I have trouble downloading?
Email theesurvivalseries@gmail.com and we'll send the files directly. We're a small team. We respond within a day, usually within hours.
Gifting
Can I gift this to someone?
Absolutely. The Word version is specifically built so you can add a personal note on the cover or first page before printing.
Can I print and have it bound as a real book?
Yes. Most local print shops (Ryman, your university print service, independent copy shops) will spiral-bind or perfect-bind a 43-page PDF for under £15. It looks great as a real, physical gift.
Do you offer a printed version?
Not right now. We sell the digital files only — but the PDF is set up to print and bind beautifully if you want to give a physical copy.
Payment and refunds
What payment methods do you accept?
All major debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, PayPal, and Klarna.
Do you offer refunds?
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If the guide isn't for you, email us within 14 days and we'll refund you. And if anything's ever wrong with the file or you can't download it, just get in touch and we'll fix it. We'd rather you be happy than be right.
Can I share the file with friends?
For personal use and gifting only. If you want to give it to multiple people, buy multiple copies. We've kept the price low specifically so this is realistic.
About us
Who's behind this?
Survival Series is a small independent UK publisher. The first book was written by someone who's done a lot of hiring and a lot of being hired. We're not a content farm.
Will there be more books?
Yes. We're working on follow-ups for the post-graduation limbo, career pivots, the first manager job, and the redundancy conversation. Sign up for the email list to hear when they land.
